The NFL has allowed teams to don many different alternate uniforms and throwbacks. But they don’t currently allow teams to wear alternate helmets. As of 2022, that will change. NFL approved alternate helmets today for teams wearing throwback uniforms starting in 2022, per league sources.

The second and third helmets, also known as "alternate color helmets," can only be worn with one of the club's authorized optional uniforms (classic, alternate and/or color rush). In addition, if either alternate color helmet is paired with a classic uniform, the helmet colors and designs must be historically compatible.

Instead of going with the current logo that has a black background, the Raiders should roll with the throwback AFL logo that features a silver background. That logo would pop much more on the black helmet.

Keeping the all-black matte theme, helmets feature monochrome decals which are exclusive to the Eclipse Alternate series. The Eclipse Alternate series consists of 31 NFL teams (sorry Raiders fans) in eye-catching and one-of-a-kind designs, which feature a distinctive look that’s sure to excite fans and collectors alike.
