Yes, there is a small picnic area near the Visitor's Center. This as taken from the website: "A small picnic area is located near the front of the Stones River National Battlefield Visitor Center. As you exit the building go left along the paved parking lot road until you come to a gravel path (you will pass two paved paths on the way). Under the shade of a few tall trees you will find six tables and no grills that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis."
there is no cost to tour the site or to see the cemetery across the street where all that have fallen are buried. the only cost you will find is in the gift shop should you wish to purchase something
