Trains are expected to start running from the new Belfast Grand Central Station later this month. Public transport provider Translink said it is making preliminary plans to commence rail services from the new hub on Sunday,

The bus-and-rail body said that it has “preliminary plans” to start rail services on Sunday, October 13. This will see the rail line between Belfast and Lisburn reopen for passenger services. Meanwhile the cross-border Enterprise services will operate to/from Belfast Grand Central Station instead of Lanyon Place.

The inaugural Enterprise train service travelled from Belfast to Dublin steamed off at 10.30am on 11 th August 1947. Operated by Great Northern Railway (Ireland), it was a prestige seven-carriage steam train aimed mostly at those travelling for business, with first class accommodation, catering, extra leg room and lavatories.
