The U.S. Supreme Court will review a case involving a group of Maryland parents who sued the Montgomery County school district for not allowing them to opt out of elementary school classes that

The parents, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, sued Montgomery County Public Schools in 2023 after the school district said it would no longer honor opt-out requests or notify families if a book referencing gender or sexuality would be read in class.

The Supreme Court agreed to hear an appeal from a group of Montgomery County parents challenging a school system policy that does not let them opt their lower elementary school children out of classes that use LGBTQ+ books.
