Durga Puja made its grand debut at the iconic Times Square in New York as scores of Indian-Americans joined the celebration.

From the idol of Goddess Durga to the Dhunuchi dance, Times Square in New York City saw Indians celebrating Durga Puja.

Part of Times Square will be closed off to traffic for the Times Square Festival on Saturday, according to the New York City DOT. “Times Square has always been a window into the soul of the city,” read the Times Square Alliance’s website.

In the video, a singer can be heard singing the popular Bengali song Dhak Baja Kashor Baja as several Indians, dressed in colourful traditional clothes, dance around the Goddess Durga idol. Numerous billboards can also be at the iconic spot.
