Widespread outages leave over 300,000 without power as winter storm brings ice, snow and subzero temperatures across Eastern U.S.

Winter Storm Blair knocked out utilities for hundreds of thousands of customers across the U.S., leaving many American households in the dark Monday. More than 300,000 electric customers were without power as of late Monday morning, led by the state of Virginia where nearly 110,000 customers are without power, according to PowerOutage.us.

Almost 100,000 power outages and icy roads greeted communities Monday after a winter storm impacted the region with snow, sleet and freezing rain. Gov. Jim Justice has declared a State of Emergency for all 55 West Virginia counties due to the winter storm hitting West Virginia.

More than 200,000 homes and businesses in central and eastern USA remained powerless after a deadly winter storm hit the area, putting the region under a massive snow blanket, media reports said on Wednesday.
