Barbie just unveiled its first-ever Diwali doll in collaboration with Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre. It's the first time that the auspicious occasion has been commemorated by Barbie and Mattel, in a bid to continue promoting more and more celebrations of different heritage.

The special Barbie Diwali doll has been dressed by Indian designer Anita Dongre, who has previously made outfits for Beyoncé and Kate Middleton, to name a few.

Mattel has introduced a special Diwali Barbie doll just in time for the upcoming festival of lights, set to be celebrated on Oct. 31.

Mattel announced the release of its first “Barbie Diwali doll” on Friday in an homage to the Hindu holiday of Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, which is marked on Western calendars as Nov 1. Some may begin celebrations on Oct. 31, depending on tradition.

The Diwali doll, created in collaboration with fashion designer Anita Dongre, features traditional elements and will cost $40.
