Outfielders Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu had breakout campaigns at the plate, but they also were among some of the best fielders in the American League this year. On Tuesday, Rawlings announced that both Duran and Abreu are finalists for the Gold Glove Award at both center field and right field, respectively.

In 2023, Boston’s lone Gold Glove finalist was Alex Verdugo for right field. Then, they traded him to the New York Yankees for pitching. Yet from the first day of spring training, Red Sox manager Alex Cora maintained that the club was confident in their outfield contingent.

Duran is a finalist in center field along with the Astros’ Jake Meyers and the Blue Jays’ Daulton Varsho, while Abreu, the Angels’ Jo Adell, and the Yankees’ Juan Soto are finalists in right field.
