A bill was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday to award Congressional Gold Medals to the "Miracle on Ice" Olympic hockey team that defeated the heavily favored Soviet Union in Lake Placid during the 1980 Olympics.

The proposed legislation calls for three medals to be displayed at the Lake Placid Olympic Center, the Hockey Hall of Fame, and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum.
