A Powerball ticket sold in Texas won $1 million but just missed the $456 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Monday, Oct. 21, the Texas Lottery said.

While there was no winner for Saturday night's Powerball jackpot, one person who purchased a ticket in Southern California came close to winning the top prize and is raking in some big bucks.

A Powerball ticket sold in California won $562,699 but just missed the $409 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched five winning numbers but not the Powerball in the drawing Wednesday, Oct. 16, the California Lottery said. It was sold at Quality Market in Newcastle, which is about a 30-mile drive northwest from Sacramento.
