Hundreds of New Yorkers testified during a marathon City Council hearing Tuesday reviewing the Adams administration’s sweeping “City of Yes” plan, which aims to boost the city’s housing supply by overhauling decades-old zoning regulations.

After more than a year of patiently pitching the City of Yes housing plan to neighborhood groups, Mayor Eric Adams’ administration sharpened its rhetoric over two marathon City Council hearings this week, urging lawmakers not to fall victim to misinformation by rejecting the housing plan.

New York City’s 51 councilmembers generally agree that the Big Apple has a serious housing problem, but many of them are publicly skeptical of Mayor Eric Adams’ signature plan to address the shortage.
