India's Gukesh scored a win over compatriot Leon Mendonca in ninth round of the Tata Steel Masters to go clear at the top.

Wijk Aan Zee: World champion D Gukesh defeated Dutch Grandmaster Max Warmerdam to stay in sole lead on 7.5 points at the end of the 10th round of Tata Steel Chess tournament here.

Gukesh now sits half a point ahead of Uzbekistan’s Nodirbek Abdusattorov, while R Praggnanandhaa holds third place with 6.5 points

D Gukesh stayed unbeaten in Tata Steel Chess 2025 as he defeated Max Warmerdam with black pieces for his fifth win and remained at the top of the standings after Round 10. Gukesh is also very close to 2800 ELo rating points.

Gukesh Dommaraju has taken the lead in the Tata Steel Chess Masters standings after defeating compatriot Leon Luke Mendonca. In other matches, Nodirbek Abdusattorov drew against Fabiano Caruana, while Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu was defeated by Anish Giri.
