It was a bad night for Seattle to be missing a top penalty killer. Winger Brandon Tanev was ruled out due to illness. Tye Kartye, who was scratched in favor of John Hayden during the Kraken’s last game in Pittsburgh, went back in for Tanev.

The Seattle Kraken were behind the eight-ball after allowing four goals in the first eight minutes of Sunday's 6-2 loss to the red-hot Detroit Red Wings."We didn't come out to play," a frustrated Matty Beniers told broadcaster Piper Shaw postgame.

Youngster Matty Beniers got things going for Seattle just 8:12 into the game. A floating pass from the defensive zone caught the Jets standing still, before Kaapo Kakko fed Beniers for a redirection from the top of the crease which beat Hellebuyck for the early 1-0 score.

The Seattle Kraken travelled to the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 16 for the last game of their road trip. The game was tied 1-1 heading into the third. It was ultimately the Jets who took the win, 2-1, at the last possible second.
