A day after Brian Belichick departed, Mike Vrabel is hiring a veteran safeties coach who worked with him in Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans have hired John Fassel as the team’s special teams coordinator. Fassel joins the Titans with 20 seasons of prior NFL experience, including the past five years as special teams coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys.

This week, it was reported that Patriots safeties coach Brian Belichick and cornerbacks coach Mike Pellegrino weren’t returning to New England. Since that time, Mike Vrabel has added two defensive back coaches who worked with him in Tennessee.

Vrabel hired McMillan in 2021 as a defensive assistant where he primarily worked with Titans outside linebackers. In 2022, he worked as a defensive line assistant coach alongside Williams, who was named the Patriots defensive coordinator. McMillan continued to work with Titans defensive lineman in 2023.

Along with Anderson, the Titans are parting ways with passing game coordinator/cornerbacks coach Chris Harris, tight ends coach Justin Outten, special teams assistant Anthony Levine, and defensive assistant Clint McMillan.
