Councillor Angus Millar, the city's transport convener, warned pavement parking was creating a "road safety hazard”. He stressed it was causing a "significant issue" with some pedestrians forced onto the road to continue with their journey.

Highland Council followed suit in February. Glasgow City Council had previously said IT issues had delayed a roll-out of the ban.
