The Reds on Monday reassigned six players to minor league camp, with five of those players being optioned to the Triple-A Louisville Bats including infielder Noelvi Marte, a candidate for third base this spring. Tyler Callihan, Rece Hinds, right-handed pitcher Connor Phillips and right-handed pitcher Yosver Zulueta were also optioned to Louisville.

Marté, the centerpiece of the previous season’s trade of ace Luis Castillo to the Seattle Mariners, popped as well. He made his debut as a pinch-runner and promptly stole third base, showing the fearlessness that Reds scouts saw when the team was negotiating with the Mariners.

The Reds announced a series of camp cuts today, the most notable being that infielder Noelvi Marté has been optioned to Triple-A Louisville. They also optioned right-handers Yosver Zulueta and Connor Phillips as well as infielder/outfielder Tyler Callihan ad outfielder Rece Hinds.
