The RAF has sent Typhoon fighter jets to intercept an Indian flight heading into London’s Heathrow Airport after it declared a ‘bomb threat’. An Air India flight from Mumbai declared an emergency earlier this afternoon.

The Royal Air Force deployed a Typhoon fighter jet to intercept an Air India flight from Mumbai to London after a bomb threat. The plane landed safely at Heathrow Airport, and the incident is now under civilian control.

The Air India jet was circling over Norfolk before the Typhoon interceptors met it. An RAF spokesman said the alert ended without incident and the Boeing 777-300 "was released to continue to its original destination".
