BBC Radio Merseyside legend Andy Ball has died, it has been confirmed online. The radio station posted an emotional Facebook statement: "We’re sad to have to tell you that our friend and Colleague Andy Ball has passed away.

Tributes have poured in for a popular BBC radio presenter who has died after an illness. Andy Ball, from Wallasey, was a presenter, reporter and part of the BBC Radio Merseyside's management team for nearly 30 years.

BBC Merseyside honoured the memory of Andy with a touching photo montage on social media, featuring a professional picture of him and another caught in the midst of broadcasting, captioned with "1963 - 2025". The post also included heartwarming snaps of him sporting the iconic BBC Children In Need Pudsey bear headband.
