As Arctic air and frigid temperatures continue, the next chance for snow in the Chicago area comes Thursday into Friday as part of a winter storm developing in the southern U.S.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Counites under the advisory, including Cook and DuPage counties, can expect 3 to 4 inches of snow with higher amounts of up to 5 inches possible, especially in Lake County, Illinois. High temperatures will be in the 20s with lows in the teens.

Chicago's O'Hare Airport and other major airports are facing flight delays as the country faces the first severe weather of the winter.
