Scrat is a young Saber-Toothed American Squirrel who lives in a private house with Lisa Fremont and her parents. In Ice Age 3 he comes back to the Ice Age, his old home, to meet a new character and love interest: Scratte.

The third theatrical film and second sequel in the Ice Age franchise, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, features a female counterpart to Scrat named Scratte. The film director Saldanha explained that Scratte was intended to extend Scrat's role in the story in a way not previously explored in other features. [ 1 ]

Scrat is an acorn-obsessed saber-toothed squirrel that lived during the ice ages, attempting to store his prized acorn. As of 2013, he became the mascot of Blue Sky Studios, a subsidiary of 20th Century Fox (now owned by Disney).

Scrat is the overarching protagonist and mascot of the Ice Age franchise. He is an acorn-obsessed saber-toothed squirrel. He is voiced by director and producer Chris Wedge, who also voiced Wonderbot from Robots.

Scratte is a new character in Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. She's voiced by Karen Disher. She first appears when Scrat is chasing his acorn at the beginning, and when Scrat takes the acorn, she cries, and Scrat gives it over.
