Orifice tube colors identify orifice diameters. Substitution of different color orifice tubes will not work For example, a white orifice tube cannot be substituted for a yellow or red orifice tube for blue in a Ford. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the exact color and fit.

There are two different options, one with a blue orifice and one with red. How do I know which one I need?

May 28, 2009 · Each color is a different orifice size. The blue one will build less high side pressue, but it won't cool as well at idle. R134 will run a little higher pressures than R12, so maybe that's why they told you to get the blue.
