(I noted the backwards and forwards compatibility because if you get like a PCIe 4 motherboard but a PCIe 3 GPU, those will still work. Way back in the day you could have a Intel CPU, a Nvidia chip on the motherboard(for the south bridge), then a AMD GPU.

Oct 12, 2022 · GPU benchmarks online show way higher scores than the Intel integrated graphics. Whether they can handle more transcodes is unknown, but seems promising. If it can keep up, I'd consider it over an Nvidia because of Nvidia's shitty linux drivers and artificial transcode limitations.

The image has all of the drivers and libraries needed to run the FastChat tools with local models. The image could use a little work but it is functional at this point. May 19, 2022 · I found out that it was now in the start menu named "Intel Graphics AGS" or something. It was now actually better than before with more options. Other problem i had was that after restarting my PC the GPU performance came to a halt when unplugged (on battery). I fixed this by changing the on battery power settings to Maximum Perfomance.

Apr 14, 2023 · Ouh, thanks for posting this detailed answer. I use linux and was planning to get an arc gpu for all kinds of uses (video, cad, gaming, ai, compute), since Intel's drivers are open-source unlike nvidia, and I assumed they're better suited for those tasks than AMD.

Intel publishes a lot of open source software and GPU documentation about the i915/xe drivers and the ARC GPU graphic related functions and so on. But tragically they've omitted the very few pages of docmentation / software library / software API support that would've been needed to have something akin to Intel GPU Control center on MS Windows ...

I did CPU training as well as GPU training on my Intel ARC A750. Long story short CPU training on this dataset with this model was about 46 minutes on CPU (I could only get CPU to work on Ubuntu running under WSL/2 on Windows) And the exact same model and data set using the ARC GPU was about 3.5 minutes. So at least 12-13 times faster on GPU.
