Jun 21, 2022 · Really depends on what you want out of the car, and how much $$$$ you're willing to spend. If you want period correct and about as simple as it gets to spray, go single stage. If you want it to really pop, base/clear is the way to go. Whatever you decide to do, don't buy paint based on price. You get what you pay for.

Mar 11, 2008 · What I didn't get was the mixing ratio. I've seen somewhere its 4:2:1 (4 parts paint, 2 parts reducer, and 1 part hardner) and elsewhere it 8:4:1. I only want to mix a small amount at once so I don't waste the paint ( acrylic enamels). Any advice on mix ratio and other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Doug.

Masking tape eched my new paint!! - Vintage Mustang Forums
Dec 31, 2005 · Question on masking tape. I used the blue 3M painters tape on a newly painted door jam to shoot the rocker panel, and it eched a fairly deep dulled finish into paint. Looks to be some type of chemical reaction :wall: The new paint cured I believe 2 days, and the masking tape I believe was on 3 days. Paint is PPG DCC single stage acrylic urethane.

Oct 8, 2013 · First, understand that urethane is just a chemical makeup. It "really" doesn't have to effect the final appearance. Urethane does NOT mean basecoat/clearcoat, although most BC/CC systems are urethane based. If you want the closest to what the paint looked like when it left the assembly line, have your painter use a single stage urethane.
