Toddler keeps spitting. How do I stop that? Spitting's a tough one because two year olds don't understand you can't spit anymore. I'd say no, clean it up, and then I would take a favourite toy away. What if they're not holding a toy? I'd go into their room, get a favourite toy, and I'd put it away where they can see it. You have got to be fast though as they need to connect that. With toddlers, you use consistent, corrective actions. You don't use words. You just say no to get the ball rolling.
